i figured out the problem... i was using Nero WaveEditor to record my voice/distort/add effects and it seems even though I saved as PCM in the aforementioned format, it was still not being able to be played by HL... I downloaded
GoldWave, opened and re-saved the wav and it started working fine... no idea why but happy it's working now... if anyone wants to see an example pop in 66.55.148.102:27015 ... never thought my voice could sound like that =]
