Some special characters need the file to be saved in utf-8 without BOOM. In german this is ä, ö, ü and ß. Other languages have other letters that need this, so you have to decide if you want to support this or not.

Oh....alright thanks. And thanks for the confirmation. What happens if i use UTF-8 in regular notepad? is there a special encoding that is "without BOOM" or are they essentially the same? I ask because i can't actually test that....

Ghosting is what Mordekay said. Basically....telling alive players where the opposite team is. (this is why dead client's can't normally talk to live ones through text chat in game)
