I'm actively using a slightly modified version of this. I added a random delay for each check to distribute the load because it was maxing out the download slots in the http2 functionality when there are a bunch of players on the server during a map change. It fails to download a couple times on a busy night but I'm not sure if that is something I introduced or if that might be normal if someone disconnects quickly after connecting. But, based on my logs it's catching 1 to 5 per busy night. I've never personally tested sharing a game with another account because I don't have any accounts that don't have Day of Defeat and I don't want to create a new one.
I cloned the original repo on February 8, 2020 which is the version I attached.
