Having said that, you can rename the VPK file to whatever you want, you just can't put them in directories other than custom/ . You also can't put them in subdirectories of custom, which is sadly something I was hoping to do for Freak Fortress 2 bosses and the like.

Right, can I somehow extract these files from within the vpk and make them into "normal" files I can place under subdirectories under custom/? I like having things tidy
