That's exactly what come in my mind when i saw the update.
Why updating a game so old? and with a so destructive update :/

From now my linux server (i freshly remade few days ago and had hard time to make it work again after many years where i wasn't able to have a server running) is working for most of the plugins, but impossible to have 16 players (now it's 4 max).
i got those errors

What is strange is that everything related to 8+ coop seems to be fine (at least no error), so i wonder why my server have 4 players ax right now?

I think they definitely want to kill the game to be sure that people will go on B4B (and pay for mods that are free in l4d2).
