That behavior was never (intentionally) changed. It's currently nonfunctional because Valve removed the attribute VSH was using for that effect. I already gave Chdata a way to fix it, but he hasn't updated VSH in a while. Until the official repo updates, you could use my fork that fixes it (and other bugs) if you wanted:
