There's something fishy going on, there is a check for the maximum size of the entity array in place: this line shouldn't even be reached if there are no free elements. If you happen to have made any changes yourself, check them as well.
In any case, try this new version, it might solve the problem. But I doubt the plugin was the cause of your crashes.
