I'm not sure if I am missing something here, but "the hud can't display more than 255" means there is no fix besides creating a custom hud message(which is not really a fix).

I'm pretty sure most plugins can be converted from ReAPI to fakemeta/engine. The only issue I see is when orpheu is needed, but signatures are already available in this forum for a lot of functions...

Are you sure this is what actually solved it? With register_logevent you just catch a log message, it's not the actual bomb planted function. Also superceding Event_C4_Planted shouldn't do anything....
