Note on wildcarding:
You can use wildcards to apply a set of attributes to all items or all players using an asterisk (*) in place of a steamid or item index.

There is a missing "{" in your config file, (addons/sourcemod/configs/tf2items.weapons.txt).

There should be the same number of opening brackets "{" and closing brackets "}" in the file.

tf2items' gamedata already auto-updates, the extension itself doesn't (the extension doesn't need updates all that often).
