You are being attacked, probably by bots.

Set IPTables on your server and/or install a firewall.

This has nothing to do with the Socket extension. It's just the symptom of an attack on a Source...

I switched to cURL extension and it's working fine. But you have to be sure that none of your plugins require Sockets especially.

Ok, thanks for the link.

So yes, it needs Socket extension to be compiled, but I'm not sure you need to run Socket to make it work...

My servers are starting to crash after more than 24h online (I don't have any auto reboot for now because the last updates broke my launcher.)
Anyway I need to know if it is due to Sockets.
