mysql.sock problem

Failed to connect to database: [2002]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

i know that this works as a solution:

ln -s /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock...

i think it has something to do with the mysql...

i think it has something to do with the mysql host, because the host is on heavy load ... maybe connection probs or timeouts ?

i only know it is direct on the mapchange ... i think it is on...

[mysql] servercrash on mapchange

Problem:

server restart, map change to anzio. my plugin creates a db connection to a remote host (not localhost, and no host in the lan). all is working fine 90min. ~5000 sql queries and results...

every sql query with a resultset where a field return value is null , let my server crash!

example:

SELECT group_name, group_short as tag FROM phpbb_user_group pug, phpbb_groups pgs .....
