OK, I made MySQL Admin to work: the wiki says to put steam ids in quotes. After I removed the quotes, it worked.
Edit: now I've realised I was wrong, the wiki says to use quotes on server commands...

Make a setting like "vbac_check_consistency" to disable that, (or better check if it's 0 on the server!!!!!!!!!)

a plugin to use amxbans please. it's annoying to get bans from one server and add them to another server manually (a shared db is just what the doctor ordered :)
