Yes - v1.2 basically allows newly-created flares up to two seconds to fly and hit their target before being removed automatically. It's still technically possible for midair flares to be removed...

This is a good idea, but the probability of a legitimate flare disappearing when sm_fe_rate is set to a reasonable interval is so low as to not justify the computational expense of doing so.

FWIW the Hooker extension lead to crashes on my end. Disabling that coupled with pred's gamedata fixes yielded stable servers (Linux 1.1-r2255).
