I tried 1.8.5-hg750 and the server continued to crash.

I updated to the development branch 1.9.0-hg739 (http://www.sourcemm.net/snapshots) and it hasn't crashed so far.

Instead of using the console to configure my settings, I modified the settings in the cfg file and it seems to be working fine now.
