The SM 1.3.8 release is fine, and was released primarily as a fix for the F2P update. The only issue with it was that one piece of gamedata which will autoupdate to a fixed one now.

This was a gamedata issue. The signature verified because it did point to a valid function; it was the wrong function.

This has been resolved now and updated gamedata downloads to anyone running...
