srcds on OLD linux server?

What is the earliest known time that srcds ran on linux?

the target platform is...

-debian sarge i386
-gcc 3.3.5

I have memories of running srcds on a freebsd box in 2008-ish, maybe...

Hi, I just got my first VPS, and the first thing I did was throw up some old goldsrc game servers.

I don't know anything about it though, I know that these old games have a lot of unfixed...
