I'm having this same issue. I've tried l4dtoolz with normal, and also with the playerslots version (no lf4dtoolz)

I was having this issue too on my windows box.

Download the latest snapshot build from http://www.sourcemod.net/smdrop/1.4/sourcemod-1.4.3-hg3476-windows.zip and copy just the "gamedata" folder.

I tried both methods and neither worked.. Looks like it doesn't like compiling the alt codes in.
