I don't know where your steamclient.so is located now, but it should be linked or copied to /root/.steam/sdk64/

EDIT: Maybe there is something going on with your permissions. Try to sudo chmod -R...

Create symlink (shortcut in Windows language), it should look something like this:

ln -s ~/Steam/steamcmd/linux64/steamclient.so /root/.steam/sdk64/
ln -s ~/Steam/steamcmd/linux32/steamclient.so...
