It WAS the gamedata file but I assumed ( and I should say I say this all the time never to assume and should have listened to my own advice) that the the link on first page where is says latest gamedata file MEANT latest file. I was replacing the data file from package with the one from that link. I found a link I think 2 pages back and it worked like charm. So I will be a man and apologize for my part.

PS For anyone trying to start up a new l4d2 this is the link to the LATEST gamedata file as of this post.

How about you both stop being terrible.

I've edited the last 3 posts to resemble something approaching normal human conversation while maintaining info, sorry if I removed anything pertinent, feel free to add it back without the attitude.

The dedicated server got patched today. Anybody have the latest gamedata or can tell me how to generate it? Without it the server dies a horrible, horrible death after just a few seconds of running.

So that other people don't have to read through 110 pages of posts and since it hasn't been updated in 2 years could a kind soul PLEASE update the very first post with:

a) link to the latest correct version for those running Linux L4D1 please? (Is it post #485 #510 #594 #1067->#823 or #840 ?? ) and

b) i) link to the latest Linux L4D1 gamedata (Per Visual's post#1078 it looks like it is post #906, correct? http://forums.alliedmods.net/showpos...&postcount=906 ),

b) ii) Please clarify if Linux L4DToolz DOES or DOES NOT use game data? (I see some versions do, some versions don't. Which version should we be running??)

b) iii) If it does require it, please verify if Linux L4DToolz gamedata belongs in addons/l4dtoolz/gamedata ?

c) Is the copying of libtier0.so -> tier0_i486.so, and libvstdlib.so -> vstdlib_i486.so still necessary?

d) Optionally: link to post #629 if your sm_sb_add isn't working

Background:

I'm running Linux, L4D1 version : 1.0.2.7 4364, MM 1.10.0-dev, SM 1.5.0-dev+3675, all SM plugins (bebop, etc) working correctly except L4DToolz. The server "status" IS showing (unreserved) yet I can't get more then 4 players to connect. :grrr: (My previous L4D1 server was Windows and never had any issues with 4+ coop l4dtoolz.)

Since the first post hasn't been edited in over 2 years I'm still unclear _which_ version I should be using (sorted by version number instead of chronological order) ...

Post #823 mentions 1.0.0.9 which does NOT use gamedata

I use L4DToolZ (1.0.0.9f.01) by Ivailosp for my l4d1 (linux) server (no gamedata used), MM 1.9.0 and SM 1.4.2.

sv_maxplayers 8
sv_removehumanlimit 1
sv_force_unreserved 1

and everything should work :)

Thanks Danny, that did the trick! I also removed addons/l4dtoolz/gamedata and just for safety downgraded from MM 1.10.0-dev to 1.9.0.

For anyone else wondering Post #823 is the working version.

After the last update of l4d1 1.0.2.8 when I think L4DToolz broke when typing sv_maxplayers, I get the error "sv_maxplayers init error"

server is linux
MM 1.9
SM 1.4.2

Same problem here. :-( "meta list" shows that L4DToolz isn't loading anymore. It was until Valve released a new version of L4D1 recently.

If there is anything I can do to help let me know.
