blocking general logmessages with fakemeta?

hey everyone,

does anyone know what forward i have to register to block generic
log messages which are not called by FM_AlertMessage?

i looked through the fakemeta constats but didn't find something that would
fit, or maybe i overlooked it or it isn't possible?

need some help here!

Do you mean the generic log messages you get when the log file is opened and closed and when cvar values change? I was wondering the same thing, but I don't honestly know if it's possible or not. But maybe you could tell me which messages in particular you're trying to block, because we may not be talking about the same thing here, heh.

i don't want this to appear in the logs, actually just not the rcon password
as the logs are forwareded to a HLStats account.

Code:

10:00:59 log
10:00:59 usage:  log < on | off >
        currently logging
10:00:59 logaddress XX.XX.XX.XXX 7130
10:00:59 echo HLSW: logaddress XX.XX.XX.XXX:7130
10:00:59 logaddress:  XX.XX.XX.XXX:7130
10:00:59 og L 10/21/2004 - 10:01:59: Rcon: "rcon XXXXXXXXXX "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" echo HLSW: logaddress XX.XX.XX.XXX:7130" from "XX.XX.XX.XXX:7130"
10:00:59 HLSW : logaddress XX.XX.XX.XXX : 7130

i tried it with FM_AlertMessage, but no luck :(

There's another engine function called EngineFprintf that seems would be used to write to a file. It isn't implemented in Fakemeta, but I tried catching it via a custom AMXX compile. I couldn't trace where that engine function is being used at all. It certainly wasn't being used for the type of log you want to block, unfortunately.

So I've had no luck as of yet. I'll keep trying occasionally as I'm kinda interested in this and I'll let you know if I do find something. But for now, I'm just letting you know it seems pretty unlikely to be blockable. Perhaps, someone else knows if what you're trying to do is possible.

i'm definately interested into that :D

Most likely these functions are part of HLDS itself, not the HL engine.

but how can an external program add info to the server logs without
it being redirected through the game engine?

doesn't sound possible at all

looks like it just echos it :D
