The dreaded acceptance...
A bit emo-esque of a title but I'm coming to accept 6GB RAM is not as useful as I imagined it. Funny thing is, I thought it would be useful in Lord of the Rings, but since my friend who I play LOTR with only plays COD4:MW now like me, we don't play it anymore. So now I have 6GB of OCZ RAM, but rarely if ever does my computer use it. Granted, I could load into Vista where resources are devoured at a 2x XP level :-) - Vista runs idle with about 1.5GB of my RAM.
I'm looking to find some way to use my extra RAM but I can't seem to see anything. Any ideas? :-) Slmclarengt P.S. At worst, it's just help for future proofing. |
Re: The dreaded acceptance...
XP cant recognize RAM sizes beyond 3GB, you have to have a 64-Bit OS (i.e. Vista Ultimate) to take advantage of RAM sizes greater than 4GB.
Unless something has happened in XP that I am not privy to. |

That much RAM may be good for running another OS session in some virtualisation software thing.

@ PM - I may actually do just that; perhaps I'll run my Vista 64 simultaneously using Virtualization along with my XP 64 - if only I had a quad-core so I could allocate 2 cores to each OS... Slmclarengt |

Launch crysis multiple times. Then again, this may require more processor power than anything.
