Speed up your computer

I have a question. Are there other ways of speeding up your computer than formatting your hard-drive?
Because now, my computer can't even start CS 1.6 server with podbot_mm. It stops at precaching resources.

Thanks in advance.

run defragmentation, download adaware , and spybot and run those, clear out your browser cache, delete some of the worthless programs (uninstall), and go start->run->msconfig then go into the startup tab and uncheck everything that you don't need to run the computer (all non-microsoft programs). Also you can go into the services tab, but be careful.

Apart from what swety banana said download this programs their free and very useful. And I use them with a lot of sucess.

NetLimeter-to check what else is consuming your bandwith

RamBooster-Real time frees up and deframents ram memory

ConnetionBooster- Optimizes your web service and can give a lot of extra kbs

And this one is paid for but for what I see it's the best
MODEM BOOSTER PRO 5
Didn't tested it but read on a forum that can give 100 extra kbs

Your mobo and BIOS would have to have these capabilities as well....
