ip ports (again)
this is from another post i made in a different forum apparently there is no answer for this or if there is im not getting any neither did i get one in steampowered so lets try the good old boys here goes....
to clear things up my ip is 'Static Not Dynamic' this i have checked with my provider. I do not have a router no devices between my pc and isp im on a cable. My internal ip, the one i connect from is allways the same so is my internal port 27016 check. my external ip is allways the same 82.150.72.25 check. But my external port changes after the server has been shutdown for 2-3 hours maybe even 20 minuts port goes from 60004 to 33456 to 4203 whatever 'this is only the external port nothing else' this is not a shortcut matter with add +port 27016 it is not a no-ip.com matter either i have and account there but it still needs to be added when port changes so theres no diffference at all my shortcut: D:\hlserver\hlds.exe -console -game cstrike +maxplayers 32 +map aim_ak_colt +port 27016 +mapchangecfgfile "server.cfg" -noipx all thats in shortcut is for my 'internal ip' the one i connect from not what the outside world connects from... now how could it be that even if my ip is static and allways the same intern/extern, ports is open, internal port is specified, and external port changes?! i do have sv_lan 0 and sv_region 3 in my server.cfg and if anyone has a fix for this it would be very appreciated, i repeat my ip is 'Static'. what a mind twister ey.... Regards Deag |
so you have multiple static IP's from your ISP?
|
no i have my intern and my extern if u would call that multiple...
|
sorry to kick up old threads but i still need a fix on this if u would be so kind
update: steam said: talk to your ISP provider, i did my ip is static... counter server.net said: try no-ip.com... and finally No-Ip.com said: talk to your game provider that would be steam... hilarious aint it :( |
Change your command line shortcut to the following:
Code:
D:\hlserver\hlds.exe -console -game cstrike +maxplayers 32 +map aim_ak_colt +ip 82.150.72.25 +port 27016 +mapchangecfgfile "server.cfg" -noipxNow the question is this a test server? Or a production server. If its a test then you can do what I do. Same as above, then make a shortcut on your desktop next to this one for steam cs and add this: Code:
+connect 82.150.72.25:27016Code:
Server:Code:
Game:Cheers! |
Thanks a bunch mate i tried this and this is what i get
Code:
WARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: Port: 27016 bind: WSAEADDRNOTAVAILand im just not seing it... i also tried the connection thing with cs shortcut doesnt work either just says retrying probably also because im trying to connect to external ip when i should use internal Thanks mate |
Zor, you can't bind to an IP that isn't on that machine (if thats the case). All this info is confusing. Do you have an int/ext ip, or a 'no router' setup? Which is it? If you have a static IP and no router, then your machine has the IP. There is no internal/external config. If you do have an address that is different when you get on a dos prompt and type ipconfig (winipcfg for win9x) than 82.150.72.25, then something is doing some NAT'ing on your network (like a broadband rounter, ICS, etc.).
Now, that being said, in short what is the question? I read your post 5 times and it's not clear to me. You can't connect to a server you run on the same machine? Others can't? |

82.150.72.25 is the extern ip i get from whatsmyip and gametiger.com to the server, it is NOT the ip i connect from, the one i enter the server with is my internal ip 172.16.xxx.xxx:27016 ipconfig in cmd prompt shows my internal ip 172.16.xxx.xxx 82.150.72.25 is just for people to connect to server from outside world Regards |
Ok, so you need to get past something here. You *do* have a router (really just NAT, but don't worry about that now). Just because you don't have a little blue box sitting next to your comp w/ a linksys logo on it doesn't mean you don't have one. You have an internal IP that your server uses and that you connect to. This is on your side of the routing. Then people come in off the net and connect via your static IP. Thats the external side. I'm assuming that people are unable to connect to your box (though you still haven't said so) but you can. Is that correct?

sure hope this will lead to some sort of solution :D
yes mate i am the only one that 'can' connect to the server from the 'internal ip'. Outside world have to use external ip 82.150.72.25 and they 'can' connect to the box i have loads of traffic on server inbound and out. Only problem is extern ip's port changing after a server shutdown of about 2 hours maybe even 20 minutes. |
