map manipulation
Wow, first post :shock: . Anyway, since Source engine can provide something like "on-the-fly" manipulation of map, can it be added in SourceMod. Because it would be great that you can manipulate terrain by a module&plugin.

for one thing, i believe that hl2 maps calculate shadows during map compilation, but it is true that displacement maps can changed on the fly by a scripted sequence in the map (or at least i've seen a demo of it in the past). So basically i think it would be possible if you created a custom map with triggers and run a script that could execute such triggers somehow. You should be able to spawn and manipulate objects/models, but this isn't exactly what you want.
To be honest i would very much like to be able to make such terrain and map changes (and then say, save to a text file) on the fly for a possible mod i hope develope. |
