better admin slot reservation

how about adding a built in admin slot reservation that allows every slot to be filled by non admins, then when an admin joins (who is given a reservation) the server kicks either the clients whos been playing the most, least kills + most time, playing the least, not a regular on the server automatically. These choices would be able to be adjusted in the pluggin.

Very good thought I agree that the advanced slot reservation for amxmodx should be implemented in as a base plugin for SM. The original was nice but when you have a lot of members most of the time they couldn't play because there were more members then reserved slots. And I liked being able to bump out non members for members when the server starts to get full.

I have run across one admin.. who didn't want to kick out players... Just keep making the maxplayers larger...

He couldn't find anything on AMX(x) so he went back to admin mod.

I shrugged my shoulders because anything's better than AM.. lol... that's my opinion.. lol

What's wrong with Admin-Mod?

Isn't adminmod focused solely on administrative tasks, whereas amx/amxx are more general purpose, allowing more gameplay changes?

I like both admin mod and amx.

I have to agree with Scout 121. An advanced system that would know who to kick off the server when an admin or someone with reserved slot status joins would be great.

You dont just want a random person getting kicked, especially if its one of your regulars.

BAILOPAN 10-23-2004 17:19

You always need to have at least one slot free as a connection entry point, which is annoying about reservation.

Anyway I do agree with this method ;]

I must say that i´m one of those that doesnt want to kick any of the players since i have alot of regulars
What i would like to see in this advanced adminslot plugin is the following:

First that one can choose how many reserved slots/admin slots one wants to have

ex. sm_reserved_slots <# of slots here>

Second thing i would like to see is that one self can deside how these slots are preserved/used like in the old amx adminsslots plugin

// Kicking rules to keep reservered slots free
// 0 - don't kick anyone and keep reserved slots only for players with reservation
// 1 - kick by shortest playing time
// 2 - kick by worst ping
// 3 - don't kick anyone and put on remaining reserved slots only players with reservation

** Note** I dont really understand the diffrence between option "0" and "3", so if someone remembers/know what the diffrence is plz explain it to me** END Note**

ex. sm_reservation_type <option # here>

Third and last thing is something i have not seen before but would be nice to see in SM
The ability to diside what to do with players that try to get in when there is no public slots left.
something like this:

// Handling rules when publ. slots are full
// 0 - Kick with reason amxx style
// 1 - Redirect to "sm_redirect" (could be either an ip:port or a dns:port)

ex. sm_reservation_handling <option # here>
ex. sm_redirect <ip:port | dns:port>

I like Viper's suggestions :)

Besides this I would like to be able to assign reserved slot access to IP-ranges (without cluttering up my adminlist:))

The reason for this is that I would like the customers of my ISP to be able to enter my servers even if they're full. This would add one to Viper's kicking rules:

4 - kick anyone not in specified IPrange
