How to get player's hardware ID?

Hello,
I wonder if can I get hardware ID of the player? Or some hash of it?
I found this: https://github.com/Destro-/onlyarg
There is native called "get_user_hid", but I dont know if it works; I got some errors from compiler.

Re: How to get player's hardware ID?

Why would anyone need to know the hardware ID of any client on the server?
Ban by STEAM_ID and that's it.

Re: How to get player's hardware ID?

Some players uses steam_id changers with changing IP, sometimes I can't detect it, especially if he's using some nonpublic program or something new. Config ban is unreliable too bacause it can by bypassed by setting config file as read-only or reinstalling CS. Checking machine ID (or some other rarey changing parameter) could be great to ban those people. Even one of them can make real problem for other players if he's motivated...

STEAMids cannot be changed on a steam only server.

Let me rephrase that. STEAM, or better Valve, created a system, where everyone has a single ID, to be safely identified on the server, so he has always the same number, to be sure it is the same person every time it joins the server. Some guys don't want to pay for the game they love to play, crack/bypass this system and get a random number, thus making this system useless.
Now, you want another system added to "fix" this problem, that never occurs on a legal copy of this game.

You decided to use an illegal version of the game.
Learn to life with the consequences.

Nope, I have Steam and legal version of CS. The problem is many players still use NS. I could make server Steam-only, but there is another problem: not every player is a cheater, but every player can help me to pay servers by buying eg vips or some other premium services.

Re: How to get player's hardware ID?

Sorry. I'm unable to see the link between supporting illegal software and paying your server.
If you need others to "buy extras" to pay your server, I suggest you to simply close it and play on others servers.

Re: How to get player's hardware ID?

I dont know what's your servers business model, but usually severs are paid by players. Unless you have lots of unnecessary money... And I'm unable to see the link between my question and your opinion.

What's a big deal btw? Can you give me a hand with this hardware id? I think it's not "illegal".

Re: How to get player's hardware ID?

But a NS server is.
So, no. And this is the only answer you will get in this forum about NS.

Yeah, following the law is so bad . . . you're certainly welcome to get support somewhere else that doesn't obey the laws preventing this community from supporting Non-Steam.

@Mordekay, I tried to PM you but it seems you can't be sent messages. I think I have some interesting info that you might like to know.

I dont know why are you so mad at the point of legal cs. I dont support piracy, as I said, I have Steam and I bought cs, but I cant influence at others. And server only for steams won't change it.

Yes, I've blocked PM for regular users. Too many think, insulting via PM is OK.

EDIT: I've added you to my contact list, you can PM me now.

They are empty, because CS is dead. I still run them for me and a few friends that play together now and then.
And guess what. I can pay for the game I love to play, and don't need others to pay for it. And those who want to play, paid for it too!

Re: How to get player's hardware ID?

sebxx4, the law is not up for debate. We do not support NS servers because they are illegal. How you feel is irrelevant.

You must have a steam only server to get support here.
Otherwise, please go somewhere else for support.

There is nothing to debate. These are the rules.

my solution is: i wrote my own ban system which will ban a player by steamid and by IP, and i also ban IP sub net esp. 111.222.333.*

also you can add libraries to detect vpns. additionally collect all his config and rate settings, and create a hash. cause he might connect with this config again (new steamid, diff IP)

as long as valve does not fight back against no-steam influence and server manipulation, i see no reason to be so aggressive against no-steam. it has a big part of keeping cs alive.

just for stats: the number of no-steam cheaters is only 30% higher than steam cheaters, and my server has >90% steam players

and just for all the no-steam hate:

your hate should go towards the boosting companies, which fake servers and made cs a pay to win game. when i came back to cs after over 10 years i also played no-steam for a few weeks until i bought steam. if you love the game you will buy it eventually.

i understand that this board is afraid of law suits, but you can be more clever about that

Nothing from what you said is relevant, at all. Plus, there is no hate. We do not support no steam, that is all, we don't care about it.

We have no reason to be "cleaver about it" since it is not our intention to circumvent the law in any way and also we do not have any desire to support no steam.

I have no idea how to say it more clearly. Trying to argue about the usefulness of no steam or the fact that you do have steam but run a no steam server for "insert irrelevant reason here" is useless.

Re: How to get player's hardware ID?

Law is law, sure. But dont ignore the fact many players runs no steam and without them cs 1.6 will be more dead than now. I would venture to say if no steam will gone, most cs 1.6 servers would gone too. You dont see it, or what? Just look at the statistics. Or run own server, adveertise it and count steam and no steam players.

As he just pointed out, that is not relevant at all. Just because you don't like your own prediction doesn't make it such that it would be legal to support it here.

The only way to change the steam_id is using the No Steam client, which is not supported on this forum, usually blocking someone will result in a permanent ban unless they abuse some exploit.

Not really. Deleting your account and comments would result in ghosting threads and comments that replied to your comments. So, no. Simply don't visit the forums any more.

All your points are invalid and pointless. What does the GDPR for Europe have to do with a forum based in the US? If you don't have any idea about what you're talking about, then don't continue to make yourself look like an idiot.
