precache_generic
 
Hi, i wanted to know what problems i will have if i use precache_generic, im using it for MP3 files, playing it with mp3 command, but what will happend if i use it to load .wav, mdls or sprites?,could there be some mistake?

you can use in .wav .spr .txt and mp3 sounds.

precache_generic requires full path to precache

if you are going to use it for .wav sounds the sound must be output with spk sound, if you use emit_sound you must use precache sound.

thanks, and for the sprites loaded with precache_generic, that sprites can be used for TE_SPRITE?, or entitys with that sprite?, and what about models?

you must use precache_model for models, but be careful at the number of the models, if there are too many the server will crash because of 512 limit

i know, but what will happend if i load a spr with precache_generic, and use it for TE_SPRITE or entity model, i know the limit of 512, thats why i ask for precache_generic, cause, precache_sound, model, generic have a a limit of 512

no, use precache generic only for .spr (huds) and txt, if you are going to use TE_SPRITE you need to use precache model

Only player modals may be precached with precache_generic, everything else has to be precached with precache_model.
