[CS:GO] Source 2

Hello,

Soon, CS:GO will be ported to source 2, i hope this will improve it a lot, my question is: it will affect cs go servers, and if the answer is yes, how? plugins that we are running now, it will work? servers could consume more ressources from dedicated servers?
I hope this topic it will help servers owners, it would be nice to know what it will happend with their servers.

Thank You !

...shouldn't they release BETA version first ?

Csgo already has source2 element. I think the panorama is also from source2.

I'm very concerned about this upcoming source 2 update.

Because it's probably going to cause big problems for us.

Where are you getting this from?

It will be Orange Box hassle again.

Upgrade to Source 2 -> MM:S and SM need new gamedata, offsets, fixes.
New update a day after -> MM:S and SM need new gamedata, offsets, fixes.
Updates after updates in month -> MM:S and SM need new gamedata, offsets, fixes.

*Old plugins stop working, if those use own gamedata files.

Then forum have at least 10 new topics (I need help/Need help/Help me/help)

I wonder if Source2 will have multithreading support and if it would require more CPU/RAM to run.

Probably not, and yes. Every update requires more, never requires less.

I don't believe there has ever been an update server side that has resulted in less resources; except a scenario where there was a bug fix, which is very few. One can only hope they start the journey of allowing multi-core and not just simply offloading some resources to another thread like logging or networking. Again, I doubt it, would love to see it, but mostly don't see why. They have zero obligation to make things easier or better for community servers.
