uh
I am having trouble with this code
Code:
I don't see why it doesn't work edit: the HUD doesn't show in the game, even after multiple respawns. and I can't get into the menu. |
Comment these:
Code:
Also, when you're not only copying superhero mod but also spelling "Warrior" incorrectly, you should probably just give up now. |
(Sigh) Yeah, I'm using some things from superhero mod; I'm just trying to learn to script. I'm not even going to finish this plugin; I'm just trying to learn how to make an xp mod with levels and a menu for class. That’s it, and unfortunately most docs that I've read through don't help very much, and putting someone very new at coding down isn't going to help them. I'm trying to piece a puzzle together, get the basics. Set a foundation, alright? Please. I just need to know how to make this work. The supposed system "Read the docs, learn yourself, look at other plugins, use search to answer your question, THEN ask" doesn't work if 1) I read the docs, piece together a puzzle that doesn't match, 2) can't learn if what I did in step 1 doesn't piece together, 3) look at other plugins, yeah okay I AM, but the things I need are scattered all of the place, and is never centered. And I have a difficult time trying to even find the basics to making an xp system since they are scattered. 4) I searched, found XP Mod Tutorial. NOPE that doesn't even work in it self, 5) I post and I get flamed...
You know how unfair it is when I try to read through every post, yes I’ve read through most of the posts belonging to what I need to know. And they always redirect somewhere else following down to a point of origin that doesn't exist. http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=6512 - Checked through all these, the one link that explains how to make what I need, doesn't work in it self. I check other docs, like the "wiki" http://wiki.amxmodx.org/index.php/Ca...28AMX_Mod_X%29 but its broken! So please don't just sit there and think your generic response to every newbie coming in here trying to learn will work. There are some of us who come in with a serious intent on LEARNING and not copying. I understand that I copied some coding from superhero mod, but I’m trying to learn from a principle that was supposedly laid down and there’s a barrier every senior in this entire forum set up saying, learn your self, and check the docs so that they aren't made in vain, yeah I checked the docs. Thank you, I got a very primitive foundation. Now I need to experiment with coding see what works with what. And when I stumble upon something that is supposed to work, and you don't even bother to try to help? And instead decide to read through half of it before you get tired? I mean come on... Please... I just want to learn here, now can anyone else please explain to me why this won't work. I've gone through it multiple times and it doesn't work. Period. |

I'm sorry?? tl;dr?

If you feel like writing essays, at least use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar. tl;dr = too long; didn't read |
eh
Eh, my apologies. I didn't mean to rant. To summerize, I just feel a bit threatened in posting at all in these forums. It isn't quite fair that the senior programmers just send us here and force us to learn on our own. I can see why though, but honestly you didn't have to say "Give up now", and I want to learn how to make a plugin. And if you could, please explain a few things I did wrong with this script. Its based off the Animal Mod, XP tutorial, but doesn't work... I'm going to check the funcwiki when I have time in the next hour or so.

1) Used a coding template, modified a few words and pretended that you actually made a plugin. 2) Referred to making a plugin as "programming" (it's scripting) 3) Started with an XP plugin 4) Said that the tutorial "doesn't work" when you cut code out of something totally unrelated and pasted it into this hoping that it would work 5) Wrote an essay about how you feel threatened posting here If you want to continue, be my guest, but if you think you can do this sort of thing just by looking at it then good luck, because you're going to need it. |
Wait, its a coding template? Hmm, I wonder why I had ever even thought it was a tutorial. I thought tutorials were supposed to explain how to create or achieve something with a step by step process...
Addition: Still I'd like to achieve a foundation here, by saying that I don't want to be flamed. I do believe that your being here is completely voluntary and that you don't have to comment on anything that I post, and I believe you have made your point, but I'd like this thread hijacking to stop and please return to the original subject that it was meant to be, "Scripting Help". |
You should make your topic more usefull too.
