Would it be possible to do this:

I was lookin through engine.inc last night and I found 2 things that I think would be great to catch cheaters...

Since most of the time F12, ins, del, etc...etc are used to activate cheats, Would it be possible to use:

Code:
get_keyvalue(entity,szKey[],value[],maxlength) or: copy_keyvalue

And check if they have it bound to a menu or something like that?

No. If you actually understand cheats, you would know that they don't literally bind the key to do something, and that the key is usually caught outside of HL.

Not only that, but AFAIK there's NO cheats that use keyvalues. If you really want to do something like that, you need query_client_cvar.

That stinks...

And no...I dont know alot of em...I dont use em..

Most that i've seen bind keys through userconfig.cfg

I had the same thinking error, maybe you copied my error

At least, Suzuka says cheats do bind keys. I tend to believe her :P

I find it more likely that cheats would take use of the di7/di8/di9 or similar libraries (or possibly windows api's?)

Most hacks that I've come across (this going back to the days of Q1-2, when we didn't have any real good API to use) actually hook into the games systems and use them extensively. This is good, because it prevents a lot of detection methods, such as detection of key hacking.

OGC, joolz, all OGC based products, metacheat; all of these use client command hooking, to my knowledge
