Voice changer


Description:
  • Change game characters's voice lines according to their models via a config file! Sounds added in the cfg are automaticly added into the downloads table.

Plugins to use with it:
Cvars:
  • "vc_version" Plugin's version, don't change!

Change log:

Bugs:
  • None.

Installation steps:
  • 1 ) Download voice_changer.smx.
  • 2 ) Download voice_changer.sp (Optional).
  • 3 ) Download voicechanger.cfg.
  • 4 ) Open your sourcemod folder.
  • 5 ) Put voicechanger.smx into your plugins folder.
  • 6 ) Put voicechanger.sp into your scripting folder.
  • 7 ) Put voicechanger.cfg into your configs folder.
  • 8 ) Edit your config file (read the tutorial below).

This plugin sounds like a lot of fun.
But sadly, it does nothing for me. I mean, it seems to work, since there are no error messages and it precaches every sound, but it still does not replace any voice lines.
(Tried with the template, which came with the plugin)
I hope this just an error on my side, which can be fixed somehow.

From what I can tell, it should replace all of Pyro's voicelines with the jeers line.
But it doesn't matter, which model I put in, or which lines I want to replace, it never does it.

I tried your cfg, it works fine for me are you sure your cfg is located in addons/sourcemod/configs ?

Yes, I triple checked it. It is definetely there.
Even when I use custom sounds, it precaches them, as I can see in the server console:

I found the culprit. It seems, your plugin isn't compatible with this one: Speech Fun
After removing it, every voice replacement worked!

Not exactly, if you don't have all the exact sounds, you can cover all the rest with a generic sound or null.wav with engineer_ at the bottom of the config, I also didn't realize this until recently so I updated the example that I posted.

Any game works. As long the class where the model is applied has voicelines.

Anyone else finding this doesn't actually change the voices more than half the time when switch to model? Getting failed to create decoder for MP3 in console - spamming.

UPDATE: Yeah something is amiss. Not seeing any errors in logs/etc but not working/stops working randomly.

Actually had to replace every sound for specific classes which was hard to manually write out so I created a program that automatically generates it from selected files. I have 12,376 lines in the voicechanger.cfg file.

Very sorry for necro-ing this. Would you happen to remember how you made that program for it or if you still have the program on you? I seem to be having a similar issue to this now and I have hardly any knowledge of scripting a program with batch to automate this.

It still works for TF2. But I have one issue with it, I have no way to apply the replaced sounds to multiple models, so I just listed them out. The issue is that every time you change map it pre-caches all the mp3's so it just lists the same ones 4 times. Why does it need to pre-cache the same mp3s anyway.

As for other issues, some taunts voices lines don't get replaced, best example would be the rancho relaxo and one of the scout taunts, probably the bongos, might be due to the fact that they come from the taunt itself and not the player, usually the newer taunts don't have this.
