[CSS] One data folder , Multiple srcds
I use linux, ubuntu. and I often use mount command for symbolic links.
Suddenly, I imagine this idea. srcds1 -materials,model,sound,maps, srcds2 -materials,model,sound,maps, srcds3 -materials,model,sound,maps, srcds4 -materials,model,sound,maps, 4srcds has a different folder each other then. Merges that four folders. Now. Only 4 materials, model, sound, maps (srcds1+2+3+4) in New Folder srcds1 ┐ srcds2 │ srcds3 │──── materials, model, sound, maps srcds4 ┘ and Mount the 4 new folders (mapterial, model, sound, maps) to the original folder (srcds1,2,3,4) If can... I will be able to save hdd space. Each entity can share. Is there any problem? Does anyone ever done before? (I found a similar post https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=247799 but But seems to be a different question.) |

You can do it on windows too, might be some rare problems with writing to other files though, like the cfgs in gamedir/cfg, or mod specific files fetched by http (like tf2's item schema in scripts). I've known people to do this in the past.

I did this on linux for awhile, and hadn't run into any problems up until I wanted to add mysql databases into the mix.

Re: [CSS] One data folder , Multiple srcds
But generally, you would want to avoid that because of any issues with one of them writing to a certain file.
