Lower the volume of gun shots and other emited sounds?
 
I was thinking about hooking when an entity emits a sound, blocking it and then manually re-emiting it with the same properties, only the volume changed.

You still cant change client-side sounds that way. (If we are talking about gunshots).

If the sound was emitted though EmitSound/EmitAmbientSound you can try hooking FM_EmitSound and resend it again with new volume.

Yes well that's what I meant. Catch emit_sound events, block them and re-send them manually with a lower volume.

The problem is that gun sounds are handled client side, and are not emitted. Though, you could block client side sounds and animations(I think you have to block them both at once), and play yours. PaintBall mod does the same thing, sou you could take a peak in its code. :)
