Petition for Extending limits of the GoldSrc Engine
Hello everyone,
Maybe some of you already encountered that problem with the Precache limit, if you use Zombie Plague with many models for example and start a big map, the server crashes, because you use too many Models / Sounds / etc. Recently I wanted to realize some ideas I had, but the precache limit made big problems, I had to cancel my ideas and started this petition. People who create maps for Counter-Strike could make bigger maps and add more details to them which increases gameplay heavily. The Coders and Modders would have more space for creating Mods and add more custom stuff. Server Administrators would experience less Server Crashes and all players would see an improvment of their gameplay experience. Relevant limits and value would be :
I think it's fair values. Of course higher values are welcomed (like Sing) but as it is it would be already really useful and awesome. If Valve want update GoldSource engine they will update 9 months ago when Arkshine 1st post on Github. But sad.. they ignored that suggestion. What can they say is "Go move to Source Engine".
Also see this feature request too https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/issues/217 still no answer. In CSS we can show HP > 3digits, but in CS1.6? |

There one limit more that wont allow to build big maps.
if the entity origin xy or z is more than 4096.0 or less than 4096.0 then engine wont render the model. Entity model will just stay at the limit even though the entity itselft has moved farther. Also it would nice to have texture limit and entity limit increased. Default texture size 512x512 to 2048x2048 max. Default entity max count 1372 to 4096. Well if we can create that much entities now there come 1 limit more. Engine can render 256 entities at once. So this should be increased as well. |
