Plugins Moderation

Since one of the largest problems with amx (in my eyes) is that there are zillions of plugins that do the same thing (next to the hundres of plugins that are just ripped from someone elses code and reposted). Will there be any moderation of new plugins here? Or a catagory system that makes it easier to find certain plugins (and therefore discourages people from programming and releasing the same *** ten times)?

Yes. I designed it with the Slashdot moderation system vaguely in mind.
Every plugin has an "Approve" button for members of the Plugin Team, which adds the plugin into the official database and time stamps it.

Plugins that are approved will have a little insignia. They will also show exactly who approved it in this form: Approver (#) where the number is the total plugins that person has approved.

The plugins page will be able to search by all the variables mentioned above and caches compiler files until the plugin is updated or the compiled is updated (everything is uncached).

Once a plugin is modified, it does not need to be re-approved.

It feels like any system would be better than the current (nonexisting) one over at amxmod.net (although that system maybe didnt account for the huge number ofp lugins that were eventually created))

however this sounds like it will rock, especially with the insignia and the # of plugins the person has gotten approved.

i at least do, but i am in germany (SniperBeamer too), JGHG is GMT + 1 and BAIL is in the USA, so one of us can be here all the time :)

Last time I checked Germany is in GMT + 1 also? :-) We could use someone in the far east/australia for even better coverage

I don't think it real matters if a plugin is approved a few hours later

That will help us all quite a bit, too many released bugs and beta's caused too many problems in the AMX threads. A few of you guys I will install just based on your history, but daily a "less then 10 posts" author would post something that was already available and working with the same name and maybe a goofy feature included that would be broke. Helping a guy toubleshoot that stuff makes ya crazy :)

I am in the US too I work from 2:30 - 11pm US Central Time...
At work now.. Trying to keep busy...

I like the Idea though of moderated releases.. Helps keep releases clean from alpha release unless noted lol...

Good that you sleep though!!! u need it.. hehe

Moderation is a good thing, but you'll need to check if the plugin released later has better/newer features, for a different game, or so on.

Also having "terms" to be put in titles will keep that from happening. Game names like DoD and CS would be part of it.

Say there is a bury plugin for CS that doesnt work on DoD and someone converts it to DoD. It should be released as the same plugin but with DoD in the name. The author of the plugin should be like this in the plugin code: Modifier(Original Author).

My two cents. :D
