Remove a console message
Hello,
I'm interested in removing a console message which bothers me a lot. For some reason, I set cl_allowupload, cl_allowdownload and sv_send_logos to 0 on my server and I use sv_downloadurl for downloading maps. A consequence of this fact is that in players' console is very often shown the following message: "Error: server failed to transmit file 'customization". How can I remove this message ? Any link or idea would help me. I repeat: I just want to block the message, not to fix the "error". I know very well why the error appears and I'm OK with it. Just the message... Thank you! |
Re: Remove a console message
cl_ are not related to server, use sv_ cvars
Look at those 4 links : https://support.steampowered.com/kb_..._allowdownload |
Re: Remove a console message
Oh, my mistake, I meant sv_allowupload and sv_allowdownload. Anyway, it's not relevant.
What I want has nothing to do with these settings. I just intend to block the "Error: server failed to transmit file 'customization" message from showing in the players' consoles. To be more precise: this error can be avoided by setting sv_allowupload and sv_send_logos to 1, but I can't do that from some reason, so this message keep showing up in the players' consoles. I must block it. Thank you! |
Re: Remove a console message
What is wrong with it showing up in player consoles? Players basically never look in their console normally.

Re: Remove a console message
The console is very often used for game manipulation (especially by admins). This message ("Error: server failed to transmit file 'customization") shows up often enough to become stressful, because in the most cases it appears like 10 times in a row.
This is not a fad for me, I'm good with programming, but I can't find a way to block this message, even if I tried. I just ask for an idea, a point to start from. I didn't study in a profound way the CS engine. Thank you very much! |
Re: Remove a console message
I'm thinking that it is a client-side message and therefore, you can't remove it. If it's not client-side and in fact server-side then you would have to see if Orpheu or Rage could remove it. But, I'm quite sure it's client-side.

Re: Remove a console message
I think the same. I haven't found anything about this error in a leaked engine source code. It's quite old, so I'm not 100% sure.
Anyway, thank you! |
