set_user_info when connecting
 
Is it possible to set the name of a player before he is connected?

I am getting his playername from a mysql database based on his steamid and would like to connect him with his playername and not get "player has changed his name to playername" in the chat.

If the player is not connected then you can't communicate with them.

well when u say it like that my question sound kinda stupid hehe :)

The problem is that now i got a task running every 10 second checking alot of stuff including if the name is the same as the one in the database but if it catches a player that has not gotten his name changed yet and is still connecting it will kick him also.

Maybe there is a better way to do this?

Check the name in client_infochanged(). Look at some swear filters that filter names.
