Proposal to use .amxx as plugin ending ....

to be able to distinguish between plugins compiled for amxmod and amxmodx could we use .amxx as the default ending for amxmodx? It would help admins to see which pre compiled file they need to use and make packaging of plugins easier if there aren't multiple .amx files in it.

In one fell swoop we could distinguish plugins compiled for AMXX from plugins compiled for AMX and AdminMod, an ambiguity that has confused many a noob. :D

This is a good idea, but the small compiler will need to be remodified to compile with a default .amxx ending - quickly, before too many people download this version of AMX Mod X and confusion spreads (and it will).

That might be a very good idea, there will be problems very soon because people will be confused.

Iteresting Point

Very Good Point.. But it also may confuse people esspesially if they dont read what there suppose to do and just do it...

lol

Its bound to create problems with 4 letters in the end ( yes i know, most os support this. Last one that did not support it was proberbly 95/DOS )

Once AMXmodX has 1 or 2 more releases, i would be willing bet that 99% of amx users are gonna change over (unless magicly Olo comes back ).

They'll Be Coming...

.ax sounds good.

BigBaller 03-09-2004 00:18

.ax is not bad, looks better then .amxx .... now that you think about it people be like .amxx looks like .amx and it will be confusing to many users

.ax is not bad ^^

EKS 03-09-2004 00:33

Id love to see it remain .amx, becuse i think regual amx will die off.

But if i thats not a option. .ax is better :)

ibm86 03-09-2004 02:05

I'm with the old .amx format... It defines the Small scripting language... imo..
And no... it shouldn't confuse noobs... noobs should read the docs before downloading/using a plugin... That's one way they should get rid of their noob-ness :P

_KaszpiR_ 03-09-2004 02:29

i opt for .amx
there is a number of software that i use that distinguish files as amx - otherwise they all would have to be rewritten

Johnny got his gun 03-09-2004 02:31

File endings are hardcoded in the softwares?

In that case, yes, they need to be modified! :-)

MagicShot 03-09-2004 03:00
