[Req] L4D - Adjustable Random Tank Spawns
 
I just had an idea for a plugin that I think wouldn't be too hard for somebody with the knowledge to make it.

What it does, is it creates an adjustable spawn interval for the tank that determines a minimum and maximum amount of time before one will spawn an incoming tank at a random nearby location. (as in the tank is straight away coming for the survivors upon spawn).

The only thing that may be needed on top of it, is a way to disable tank spawns during crescendos or anytime when large infected hoards are incoming. Simply pausing the timer if it reaches 0 (spawn time) during this period will delay it just until the last rush dies out, then unpausing it and spawning a tank to top off the crescendo/rush would be fun. Also the timer start should of course be delayed until the survivors are so far from the safe room.

This would allow multiple tank encounters per map while also keeping the randomness of not knowing when or where they will appear. Adjusting the interval would pretty much determine how many tanks per map you would encounter in the long run.

Then to top it off, you could still use the force witch command while still getting tanks.

Let me get this straight:

You want a random amount of Tanks on each and every map(!!), but you also want the same amount of Tanks for both teams?

This idea is ridiculous given the small L4D maps. You can't even properly fit 2 tanks onto a map.



You can customize your servers tank experience with these default cvars

No sorry you have me wrong, personally I want this for solo/co-op play but it could also be used for non-competitive vs. games too.

It's not really for a balanced competitive nature so even amounts for both teams is not an issue. What it would does do is inserts a lot more tank encounters into the game and guarantees that you get at lest 1 per map or more depending on the time limits you set.

It wouldn't set specific places for the tank spawn, it would use the z_spawn feature to simply spawn them nearby but out of direct sight. This way it does not take up the usual boss spawn zone and the witch would then able to spawn at all of them instead using force witch.

Again this is not for a full competitive match, it is simply to increase the possible amount of tank and witch encounters while still keeping the surprise element of an incoming tank. Bringing a lot more boss action to solo/co-op.

I enjoy playing with force witch on and getting 4 or 5 witches in some maps, but unfortunatley it also takes away the tank spawns too and there is no options to guarantee a minimum of one tank per map in co-op let alone 2 or 3 without z_spawning on the spot (Which is not random at all).
