[L4D] start without pistols
Is there any way to make it so your default weaponry doesn't include the pistol and you have to find one of the pistol drops, then a second one?

well yeah but I was thinking of doing something interesting that would require you starting with none, and then slowly working your way up to 2.
I'm also wondering if the tools are yet in place to create entire new kinds of weapons, items, and infected. (not replace existing ones, but create new entities and including them in the random item pool selection) |

This discussion could probably get moved to the drop weapon mod or separated, but what really is needed is for code to detect that the Survivor is not holding any weapons and change the animation to something such as that when holding pills (if this is even possible).
Concerning code that removes pistols on start, this is possible by just removing the weapon shortly after the round starts. |
