"Unknown command" Errors & Inability to Install
 

I have attempted to install MetaMod (v1.10.0-hg849) and SourceMod (v1.4.7) for Left 4 Dead 2. Every time I launch the game and attempt to verify the installations, I get unknown command errors. Both mods and the .vdf are located in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons.

Any extra information that is needed can be provided.

EDIT: I have searched extensively for an answer, but have found nothing that has worked. The mods simply don't want to install no matter what.

You are trying to install an outdated version of SM.

Try the latest snapshot in the stable 1.5 branch.

Nope, didn't work. The main problem is with MetaMod, not so much SM, as MetaMod isn't working and is required for SM to function.

Do not install server plugins into your game client, install SRCDS if you want to use SourceMod.

Okay, so I downloaded "Left 4 Dead 2 Dedicated Server" from the Steam Tools library and installed SM and MM. I launched SRCDS, navigated to the console tab and attempted to verify that either of the mods were working. Neither were working. Same problem as before.
