How to use amx_ban

Hi does anyone know how to use amx_ban? I sometimes get it wrong with userid im wondering how do use it with steamid because it never worked for me.

I use amx_ban STEAM_0:0:123456 0

also how do you use amx_unban? I tried unbanning via names it always doesnt work and have to resort to ip

Put it in quotes.
