I thought the end of the story was when we realized that this plugin is harmless.

Can we talk about why you think this plugin must be trashed? I've yet to see a compelling reason to trash it.

You could take a look at the plugin threads. I have not yet seen a trashed thread where I could see no reason why it is there.

So why doesn't devicenull just say that steamid replacer would be a problem for SteamBans? Why be secretive and rude to the author by not saying anything about why his plugin was trashed?

It's worth repeating: SteamBans had this exploit before Joaquim's plugin was released, and the exploit continues to be a problem now that his plugin is trashed.

The main argument against releasing steamid replacer is that it will enable a lot more people to exploit the SteamBans problem. I think this is a good thing, because people will be made aware of the fact that steamid reports are unreliable.

If the SteamBans people want to continue relying on an unreliable steamid report for their bans, then they should address the problem rather than pretending it doesn't exist. How? Accept reports only from trusted servers that do not run steamid replacers.

How is this possible? What proof do you have that a server is not using or has not used a SteamID replacer?
