Jetpack

Obsolete

Here's a simple plugin I threw together today. It adds a jetpack which allows players to fly around the map by binding a key to "+jetpack"

I added sound and an on/off cvar.

1. Place jetpack_mm.dll (jetpack_mm_i486.so for Linux) in
  this directory: addons/jetpack/bin/

2. Open addons/metamod/metaplugins.ini and add this line to the file

          addons/jetpack/bin/jetpack_mm

3. Players should go to console and bind a key to "+jetpack"

  For example:

      bind "mouse4" "+jetpack"

                or

      bind "alt" "+jetpack"

                or

      bind "p" "+jetpack"

4. If you wish to change the sound, add jetpack_sound "soundname" to the
  autoexec.cfg file.

For example, to use the sound of the original jetpack plugin add:

  jetpack_sound "npc/manhack/mh_engine_loop2.wav"

lol i'm definately going to try this. is there a public var like jetpack_ver to check on game-monitor.com?

This sounds so fun it's got to be tried without permission from my clan leader...but I got in trouble last time I did that...

it is ok but it is jumping like it lags or something and it would be better if it was push 1 to turn and push again to turn off . it is hard to control.

LOL Sweet :D I'll give it a try

It doesn't work quite like the conventional jetpack that just pushes you up in the air, but I didn't know what else to call it so everyone knew exactly what it did.

Are you holding the button down that's bound to "+jetpack"? It should be pretty smooth if you are. It's a little hard to control at first, but once you get the hang of it it's fairly easy.

It works great, but I have a suggestion

I'd like a cvar for on/off, that way I can keep the plugin loaded but not be required to have it on, we keep our server pretty default, but every once in a while we like to screw around.

It's running on my server now! Nice little toy L. Duke! Too bad the model doesn't don a nifty looking jetpack with jet flames coming out the back ;-)
