ok since you have to fiddle with the gameinfo.txt so much and there is no fix what happens is

no one could connect to my server it would say it was an hl2 server and when you tried loading up it would open up hl2

the only way to get in the server was typing
connect xx.xx.xx.xx

this is a big problem and my gameinfo the only way to get it to work was like this

its on an NFO server and on a ds i booted up not part of steam booting to command prompt

the default gameinfo.txt looks like this

so i wouldnt want to delete the line

|gameinfo_path|addons/metamod/bin is the right way, no trailing period. I don't know why it would show up as HL2, maybe it couldn't find the right gamedll.

What operating system is this on? And if it's Windows, is it standalone, steam menu, or listen server?

it was on windows but i got it working

that . after the line made it so you can type meta in console ingame and it shows up but without the dot

i coudlnt tell meta mod loaded because without the dot when you type meta nothing shows up but its really running because i have the model changer loaded right now

so i gues that means the real problem isnt the gameinfo.txt its just meta not working when your ingame \
