Use custom (fast dl) maps and workshop maps together
 

Hello,

I use custom maps, which are on my Fast DL server. Now I want to use workshop maps too. I am aware that I can download them workshop maps and put them on my fast DL, but some of the maps are 300-400 mb and this will overload my fast dl.

So my question: can i use workshop maps TOGETHER with my custom maps and make them avaiable for rtv and things?

Yes, just add them to your mapcycle. Client will see that it is a workshop map and download it from workshop and not try to find it in the fastdl.

Edit: Just in case you get it mixed up, make sure your workshop maps are the way they are. Do not move them out of the workshop folder keep them there and add the full path in mapcycle.

map files

on fast dl.

Bad idea, some workshop maps do not have the latest version and/or have different file names from gamebanana etc. This will cause players to download map files with same names but not necessarily the same map itself. Spreads the issue of the file differing from the server's files especially when joining other servers.

Yes, simply add the maps to the maplist and mapcycle files (e.g. workshop/1855851320/de_cache.bsp)
Do not listen to this advice, it is terrible and makes it difficult for every community.
