[REQ] Multi server chat
Request a plugin to allow chat between 2 or more servers that use the same plugin/settings where people for example type: /chat bla and it will show up on the other servers aswell in chat.

Re: [REQ] Multi server chat
I completely forgot I had this idea... I probably wasn't going to end up doing it anyway...

Re: [REQ] Multi server chat
neI guess the other servers woudl need RCON enabled on them and to pass the message around that way???

Re: [REQ] Multi server chat
Not if you do it over olly's sockets extension, then rcon is not required ;)

Re: [REQ] Multi server chat
It's all entirely possible via sockets, just make sure the server can send and recieve on specific sockets. The idea in this I had was to also combine it with IRC Relay so you could do something like this in game to communicate with an admin in any server or IRC as well :
/admin cheater here then on every server and in irc it'd display what server said it, who said it, and maybe the IP of the server. |
Re: [REQ] Multi server chat
Irc is a good idea, but I was thinking more on the lines of:
A cvar that can make only dead or all players can talk cross-servers Make player name green/yellow depending on the server the guy is on Mongoose are you working on that? If not, I would love to take the job |
Re: [REQ] Multi server chat
As of right now I don't have the time to take on a new project.
Also, doing the green/yellow may not work as well as you want, considering DoD: Source will only do Red, White, and Green (and I'm not even sure how to do green, I think it's team name display color only). You're better off just using what would be yellow or dark green, dark green in css = red in dods, and yellow in css = white in dods The cross server administration communication was the starting point, persistent communication across servers was a long term goal. Since the persistent connection may cause lag and other issues with connectivity. |
