You're better off getting a cheap quad core, mATX mobo, 4-8GB (Since RAM is cheap now), 2x 250GB (RAID1) HDD, PSU, 2U.

You don't need a floppy or CD as far as I'm concerned.

Use a USB stick to install winserv08.

I don't really see any reason for the other stuff. It's like some extra luggage you don't really need.

looking on ebay?

1) u need a very very good internet connection to have the amount of servers that the server you chose can hold, which based on my old server thats a fraction as good, you could hold like 30 servers lol

also have fun installing everying. that was the best part of when i had em /endsarcasm

You're right about the server size. There is no need for a 7U server with that kind of hardware. You can easily fit that all into a 1U (2U if you NEED the space in the chassis) server.

Look up Supermicro servers. I love them.

Also, being in the webhosting and networking industry for a few years - a floppy and CDROM (DVD ROM these days) should still be the standard. I don't care what new fangled software can install via USB. When USB doesn't work, or you lose your USB stick.. hope you have a backup method of installing! I for one never put a server together without them, only because they have saved my ass quite a few times.

Hi All,

I just got a few REFURBISHED servers from Entera Source , one is PowerEdge 6800, PowerEdge 2950 and 2 PowerVault 220S.* I was working with the PowerEdge 6800, download the Installation Management Console ISO and start the server, however I found that they only have Windows 2003 and 2000 installation options, they have not even 2008 and since I have 2012 Server I don't know if there is another way to install a most recently version of Windows OS Server.* I know the 2950's they support 2012 version since I have one but don't know about the 6800.
