token gslt

Hi, I've noticed for some time that the valve does not ban token when we have banned plugins, maybe somebody knows what is going on this time

Instead of waiting weeks for banning them they should ban them instantly and the server-ip for one week too. Then this would end.

ip banning is bad idea. tragedy for gameserver hosts and thats why they have login tokens...

Even IP ban doesn't help 'em.

IP bans are NOT a bad idea. IPv4 is running out out there, so banning by IP(v4) address is something that the GSP's (and potentially community owners) would be hit very well by.

It is more unlikely for a server owner to be able to change it's IPv4 address, than it would be to change it's IPv4 address, and as such, banning by IP address (potentially for a lower amount than the GSLT ban) would be very well, under the condition that they should do any kind of ban though.

When having ways to ban (or punish), it is about punishing where it can be felt (where it makes the most disaster), so that people will learn, and so that GSP's will learn to make proper policies ***and enforce them***. Punishing where it cannot be felt, ... wont really do any good at all.

As I have said in several other topic, they could simply just remove the possibilities "client side" to show skins if the user didn't have the skin, e.g. so your PC wouldn't show any skins that I currently have put on, except if a "inventory check" confirmed that I owned the skin. That way, bans wouldn't be necessary, and skins attached to players that doesn't own them wouldn't show up. Also, it would be required with client side modifications, which it would probably be quite a bit of a journey, for you to get all your players to do, just like you won't really get them to change the "-maxdownloadfilesizemb" parameter for more than 150 MB maps.

A such would be much more win win for all, as it would mean that the "skin abuse" would at least be lowered, even without the needs of bans.

I don't remember that.
