Re: [RELEASE] SourceBans++ (v1.5.3) [Updated: 2015-10-07]

Response To All Your Issues!

  1. If you are having issues with MariaDB/Ban Page, download the latest zip/tarball from GitHub for the in-dev version 1.5.4.
  2. If you are having issues with SourceMod Plugin and CS:GO, UPDATE SOURCEMOD!
  3. If you are having issues with the SB Installer not inserting your SB URL, we are investigating this.

Now please, just stop posting issues, unless not listed above.

If you do have an issue, please report it on the GitHub page here. I don't check this AlliedModders thread as often, and I get an instant email when a new issue is submitted.

I don't know what to say, if you know how to read the post 2-3 posts behind yours, maybe you won't have this issue.

Is the 'upload mod icon' button disabled for any reason, im unable to even click it.

Should i just upload the icon manually and input the filename into the db by hand?

My god. Use the code tags. From what I can tell it looks like you're not connecting to your database correctly.

Let's try this again. I am having problems with SB plugins. I have doublechecked the database setup and all is correct. I even changed it from localhost (database is stored on the server) to the external IP and the internal. All return the same errors.

Thanks!

The SourceBans Email System is stupid, don't use it, it won't work.

Unless you want to change 100 lines of code. I am going to make SB++ use 1 single email (ex. [email protected]).
But I don't understand whats the point if you can just login using a Steam account with OpenID.

Hey Folks - I know I'm probably better off posting this in a different thread but as everyone here uses SB++ I assumed it would be a much better point of call?
However I was wondering if this works with the donator control plugin, within the SourceBans forum.
If it does I honestly think you should make a comment that SB++ supports it in your main post.

Yours,
Lee.

Re: [RELEASE] SourceBans++ (v1.5.3) [Updated: 2015-10-07]

Hello Sarabveer
I wanted my SourceBans check two tables when the client enters the server. I edited a query and put like this:

PHP Code:

FormatEx(Querysizeof(Query), "SELECT bid FROM %s_bans, sb_bansdisconect WHERE ((type = 0 AND authid REGEXP '^STEAM_[0-9]:%s$') OR (type = 1 AND ip = '%s')) AND (length = '0' OR ends > UNIX_TIMESTAMP()) AND RemoveType IS NULL"DatabasePrefixauth[8], ip);

Will it work?
Please help me and thanks for all the attention.

If so, for the next update could you remove the Email system as it is required for the Web Admin Groups. :wink:

Re: [RELEASE] SourceBans++ (v1.5.3) [Updated: 2015-10-07]

Hi, I have a small issue, which to me seems a bit odd, since I have done nothing but downloaded the 1.5.3 version and moved the files in web_upload to my xampp htdocs under a folder named sourcebans...
The manual says go to yourdomain.com/your_sourcebans/install...
I go to mydomain.com/sourcebans/install and all I get is this: https://i.gyazo.com/179d6dcdb64b939d...86d3b257eb.png
If I then go up one directory(to localhost/sourcebans) I get this: https://i.gyazo.com/0f1f675c593b9ddd...05866ef12f.png

and finally if I go to the same directory but through my actual domain name it simply says that I haven't installed sourcebans.
Note: Same issue with localhost and actual domain name under /sourcebans/install so no difference there.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: Everything else on my domain is working fine.
EDIT: Problem was that I had PHP 7.0.0 installed, resolved by installing PHP 5.5.30 instead.

Regards
SurfingSenpai

The closest thing to a public API that SourceBans++ has is the "Export Bans" feature. Other than that either build your own or directly connect to the database.

Does anyone else have any problems with source sleuth not working correctly? We are on Windows Server 2008 and I've had the ban multiple accounts that are coming from the same IP address that is permanently banned. Can someone who has a working set up post their config?

Well, if you are so retarded to say something doesn't work just because MariaDB doesn't work perfectly together with it, then I really feel sorry for you.

No offense, but as I read your post, you said SourceBans++ wasn't working? MariaDB is the problem, not SourceBans++:

MariaDB claims to be a drop-in replacement for MySQL. If it really was a drop-in replacement, how would you explain that MariaDB breaks functionality of other things, which works perfectly with MySQL? That's not what I would call a "drop-in" replacement.

Anyway, SourceBans++ is totally open sourced, ... so if you want it MariaDB to work together with SourceBans++, feel free to make it the required adjustments and submit a pull request.

If I misunderstood you, and that you would really like to help constructively rather than running around with that selfish attitude you were showing above, then offer your assistance for the future development.

Might want to check your facts first - the author has rejected without comment previous contributions to fix the incompatibility.

SourceBans++ would work fine with MariaDB if SourceBans++ didn't have a broken hard-coded check for specific MySQL versions (which is only there to work around other issues SourceBans++ has with the MySQL query optimiser due to highly inefficient SQL queries in SourceBans++).

SourceBans++ claims to support MySQL 5.0+, which includes all versions of MariaDB as a fork of MySQL 5.6 without any compatibility-breaking changes, so that statement is clearly incorrect.

I have seen that the author refused to work on changes related to MariaDB compatibility, not that the author refused to take any contributions from third parties that would make peace between them.

Refusing to work on and refusing to accept contributions are two different things to me, I have only seen the first one.

I believe we might agree with most things, and SourceBans is indeed known to have a lot of inefficient SQL queries.

However, if you can send one command to MySQL, and that works fine, but you can't send it to some fork of the MySQL; I wouldn't ever call that a drop-in replacement.

If it was a drop-in replacement to me, it would either silently have discarded or eventually produced a warning with the hard-coded check.

Re: [RELEASE] SourceBans++ (v1.5.3) [Updated: 2015-10-07]

I'm on my phone so can't look it up again, but the closed PRs are in the repo for anyone to see.

That's it, you CAN send the same "command" - but SourceBans++ DOESN'T send it at all due to the buggy version check.

There is absolutely nothing that could be changed in MariaDB (other than pretending to be MySQL, and a specific version at that), the problem is squarely in SourceBans++ – if it just sent the query it would work fine – and the query in question is just working around other bugs in SourceBans++ and is required by BOTH MySQL and MariaDB 5.6+, but SourceBans++ doesn't consider 10 greater than 5 so doesn't work with current versions of MariaDB, it'll probably break MySQL on the next major version bump as well.

MariaDB != MySQL

Just use MySQL or fix the problem yourself or wait for a fix.

Re: [RELEASE] SourceBans++ (v1.5.3) [Updated: 2015-10-07]

What would be very nice is if Sourcebans++ kept track of when players are kicked just like bans and mutes/gags/silences. Often times there is no way to keep track of when players are kicked.

Would this be a reasonable thing to request?

Also on connect, is there a way we could have it also print the number of mute/gag/silences a player has had on them before, rather than just telling admins "So and So has X previous bans on him."

MariaDB hasn't been marketed as a drop-in replacement in over a year. Prior to that it literally was a drop in replacement. research is your pal

MariaDB is a binary drop in replacement for MySQL

So I definitely agree with you, research is indeed a good place to start.

Anyway, you have the opportunity to provide a patch (pull request) if you got a problem with how open sourced things works.

Or you could take the egoistic way, by leaving it alone instead of actually assisting in getting a fix made.

How to add in sourcebans another port for Rcon. For example 27016.

Change the game server's port in your game server settings.

There are two server machines connected to the router, the port tcp - 27015 is forwarded to the first server. How to make sure that both servers worked Rcon commands from the site on which the Sourcebans. One port on 2 separate servers can't be forwarded.

Rcon is on the game port, just forward TCP for the 2nd servers port as well.

please! make warning system (for light crime ex: swearing,unkilled griefing,etc)

idea : if you warn user name like 'asherallahkin' he gain warn count chat notice all in the server
[WARNING SYSTEM] 'asherallahkin' got 1 warning.
and if count exceed 3 time he will be banned from server configured time and after 'asherallahkin' ban expired and reconnect to server make chat notice
[WARNING SYSTEM] 'asherallahkin' is banned 1 time before.

sourceban site also log this kind of warnings
it will be awesome

To add on to this, like my idea before, if sourcebans could keep track of the number of times players were kicked it would be amazing. Also, when players join servers if it could give admins more info than just a players previous BANS that would also be amazing.

What would be really cool though, is a watchlist/warning system, so that admins know that this player has caused trouble before, even if he wasnt punished.

And we had to deal with the MariaDB problem as well, but someone posted a fix on the Github that has worked for us flawlessly.
